Join our Half-Day ‘Youth Mental Health Aware’ session, accredited by MHFA England. This session is appropriate for everyone who teaches, works, lives or cares for 8 – 18 year olds, including young people themselves from age 16 upwards. Thanks to support from players of People's Postcode Lottery we are able to offer this course at half price.

 This introductory four hour session raises awareness of young people’s mental health. It covers:

  • Some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
  • Skills to work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
  • Ways to support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences

There are up 25 spaces available for this session which will be held via Zoom. Each session will involve a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. All participants will receive a manual and a Youth Mental Health Aware certificate upon completion.

The session will be delivered by Olympic swimmer, Adam Whitehead

Adam Whitehead is an accredited Instructor Member, approved by MHFA England to deliver Adult MHFA and Youth MHFA courses. Adam is a Commonwealth Gold medallist swimmer and has been involved with the Trust for ten years delivering and in later years designing all of the Trust's youth programmes. Adam knows from experience the issues around poor mental health and completed his Mental Health First Aid Practitioner training in 2019.
