Mike has taken over from Dame Kelly Holmes, who steps up to the role of President after eight years serving as Chair.

Speaking about the announcement, Dame Kelly Holmes, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Mike to the position of Chair at what is an extremely exciting time for my charity. We had some really exceptional applicants as part of a widespread selection process, however Mike blew us away with his passion and shared vision to achieve our ambitious new four-year strategy.

“I am extremely confident handing over the reins to someone with Mike’s experience and knowledge to help guide us to reach thousands more young people and athletes across every part of the UK. I am also excited on a personal note to step up to the role of President, where I will continue to be in constant dialogue with the leadership team and attend a range of events throughout the year.”

Mike Kelly, added:

“I feel extremely privileged to be joining a charity that has achieved so much over such a relatively small space of time. Dame Kelly Holmes Trust has a really strong record at delivering tangible results and I am committed to ensure this continues over the next four years, as we embark on an exciting new strategy.

“Dame Kelly Holmes has done an exceptional job leading her charity as Chair since 2008 and I very much look forward to working with her in her new capacity as President.”
