About us Our news Wiltshire Get on Track go Residential As part of the current Get on Track programme running in Wiltshire, the group spent three days on a residential break at the Oxenwood Outdoor Centre. The programme is being run in partnership with Wiltshire & Swindon Sport and Youth Action Wiltshire and was made possible by generous funding from the Blagrave Trust. The residential allowed the young people to undertake many activities that they might otherwise not have had the opportunity to do such as mountain biking, air rifle shooting, night time orienteering as well as undertaking leadership development activities. While there, the group also took a First Aid course which was described as very 'hands on' by our athlete mentors Rich Parker and Liz Johnson! Rich said: We had a fantastic residential trip with the Wiltshire Get on Track group. Over the three days we saw each and every member of the group do something brilliant, something that was not within what they would normally find comfortable. There were loads of challenges, tasks and things to learn over the three days, my personal highlight was seeing how respectful and supportive the group remained all the way through, even when feeling tired or finding something particularly difficult. Well done to all of the participants. Liz added: They’ve grown in confidence throughout this programme and it’s great to see them all striding towards their potential and progressing with the level of respect they have for themselves and each member of the group None of our programmes would be possible without the help of our funders. Blagrave Trust have been a long time suppoerter of the Trust and at the beginning of this programme, Tessa Hibbert from the Blagrave Trust had this to say: As a funder, we seek to bring lasting change to the lives of the most disadvantaged young people aged 14-25 to enable a positive transition to adulthood. We’re pleased that our funding will enable more Wiltshire young people who are facing challenges to be inspired by world class athletes. We wish them all the best with the programme. The programme continues now until the end of May, we'll post further pictures and updates on Twitter.
