Athletes Our athletes Amanda Barr Amanda is an ex England international striker. She played for the Under 18 Squad scoring 11 goals in 18 appearances before progressing to the first team where she scored ten goals in 37 appearances. Amanda spearheaded the England attack at the 2005 UEFA Women’s Championship, hosted in her native North West. At domestic level Amanda played for many clubs including Charlton, Everton, Doncaster Belles and Birmingham. During her career she won domestic honours and many personal awards. Barr made her first England start on 1 March 2002 in a 3-1 Algarve Cup defeat to Norway, scoring her first goal four days later in a 6-3 loss to Sweden. Barr was among the first players who won a scholarship to the national player development centre at Loughborough where she spent five Years studying sports science and coaching. Amanda’s passion now is to develop as many young players as she can and to help keep pushing the girls and women’s game forward.
