Andrew was born in Chesterfield and attended Leeds Metropolitan University. He started his basketball career in 1999 in the English Basketball League, playing for Mansfield Express.

The following year, he moved onto Professional Basketball, playing with the Sheffield Sharks. He moved up to Newcastle in 2002 to join the Newcastle Eagles, going on to captain the team, as well as playing for the national squads of England and Great Britain.

At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Andrew was a member of the team that won a bronze medal. Also in 2006 his team the Newcastle Eagles achieved a “clean sweep” of trophies, including the BBL Cup, BBL Trophy and Championship “double.” Andrew stands at 6’4” and played as a shooting guard. He announced his retirement from professional basketball in September 2013.

Giving Back

Andrew is now a Premier League 4 Sport Ambassador with Sunderland AFC, as well as a mentor with Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.
