Our Athletes Beth Cobden My passion for netball began on the sidelines watching my Mum play. When I was old enough to join a club, my Mum took me to Fairfax Netball Club where I fell in love with the game. I worked my way up the system, and went on to represent England at U17, U19 and U21 level. I spent four years at the University of Manchester studying Accounting and Finance, alongside playing for Manchester Thunder. After taking a year out to travel South America, I returned home to play for Loughborough Lightning and be part of the full time England program. I have also spent a year in Australia playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. My greatest achievement has been winning the Commonwealth Games in 2018, the first in England’s history! Giving Back: I feel very passionate about the importance of female sport and love to encourage more girls to participate. I often visit schools and clubs to deliver coaching or Q&A’s. Why I joined the More than Medals programme? I enjoy working with children and young people and would like to give back to the community by helping young people to create and achieve their goals. I feel the program is a great opportunity to develop my skills as a coach, leader and person.
