Cassie has always loved swimming as growing up in Cornwall, water was never far away.

She learnt to swim by the age of two and competed in her first swimming gala at the age of five at school. Cassie has always had a desire to compete and would enter as many races as she could. At the age of 15 Cassie won her first national medal in the 200 butterfly, which still means the most to her, as she had come fourth, in the preceding four years!

Cassie attended Plymouth College as a swimming scholar from the age of 15-19. At the age of 16 she won six medals (four gold and two silvers) at the Youth championships and later that year competed at her first international meet, at the 2003 European Short Course Championships Dublin, where she came 15th in the 200 Fly.

At the British Championships in 2006, she won a bronze in the 400m and silver in the 800m Freestyle. Then at the British Championships in 2007, she won a bronze in the 400m freestyle and silver in the 200m Fly. In the 10km open water-swimming event at the World Championships in Melbourne, 2007, despite being stung by jellyfish she claimed a silver medal. A year later, in her third year at the Championships she again won silver in the 800m freestyle and she took silver once more, just three seconds behind Larisa Ilchenko (RUS) over the 10 km, open water swim.

The highlight of Cassie’s career was when she represented Great Britain at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in the 800m freestyle final. She also competed in the 10km open water-swimming event, where she won a bronze medal.
