Curtis' Story Before I got on the Get on Track programme, my life wasn’t what I wanted it to be. It came to the point where I was wanting to hurt myself and it actually did come to a point where I was in hospital for a few days… there was a leaflet on my bed which said the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust Get on Track programme, and my sister suggested I check it out. That’s what I did and I’m really living the life now. I definitely flourished going through the Get on Track programme. I was able to come out of my shell, be confident, have a group of friends around me and for once in my life I felt like I actually had people around who cared about me. Since finishing the programme I’m now working in a pub and restaurant and I’m more confident than I would have been. Regarding my music career I’m able to be confident and get my feelings and emotions out into a song and just let the world hear it without a care in the world. If it wasn’t for the Get on Track programme, my life wouldn’t be what it is today. I wouldn’t be able to follow my dreams and my aspirations – I wouldn’t be living the life that I am at the moment. What the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust does for young people is amazing. Young people these days don’t really get the support that is needed so they end up becoming vulnerable and things don’t work out for them. I’d recommend Dame Kelly Holmes Trust and the Get on Track programme to anyone.
