Georgina 'Gorgs', first got into Pistol Shooting through the multi sport of Pony Club Tetrathlon (shooting, running swimming and horse riding). Learning to fence she then took up Modern Pentathlon. From here she focused down to the single event of shooting.

Gorgs has been involved with shooting since she was 5 years old, originally as a member of the Mid Devon Pony Club. She played lots of sports and having a go at everything was very much part of her attitude. She excelled in running, horse riding and netball in particular.

As a result of studying at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, training for the full Modern Pentathlon event was becoming a challenge. This saw her focus down to the single event of Pistol Shooting after becoming British Air Pistol Champion in 2005 and being selected for Team England-Commonwealth Games Melbourne 2006. Unfunded by her sport for the majority of her sporting career, Gorgs followed her dreams of becoming an Olympian in London 2012, competing for Team GB in the air pistol competition.

Giving Back

Prior to 2012, Gorgs visited many schools inspiring and encouraging young people into sport and following their dreams, whatever they may be. She is proud to be involved with the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, working on Get On Track and Sporting Champions from 2013. She loves interacting with young people and passing on her enthusiasm and sense of fun.

Gorgs has put together a Support and Mentoring Programme to help people of all ages achieve their potential. This is drawing upon her experiences and knowledge behind the psychology of performance.
