Leon started playing football at secondary school, aged 12 years old, before Joining Sunday League side Priory F.C. From there he went on to play for Trafford Boys where success followed after just six months, when Leon was chosen to attend The National School of Excellence at Lilleshall.

Here he played for England Youth Teams at Under 15 and Under 16 level. Upon leaving Lilleshall at 16 years of age, Leon signed Youth Trainee forms with Manchester City, signing his first professional contract within a year. After coming through the youth and reserve team setup to play two competitive games for the senior team Leon was sold to Aberdeen by Kevin Keegan in 2002; where he made 39 appearances and scored 6 goals. Now retired Leon is undertaking his coaching badges and and keen to support young people following a similar path.

Giving Back

Leon has supported the flagship programme Get On Track, in Barnsley. Previously he has been involved in youth projects in primary and secondary schools in Manchester, and at present Leon supports a football and education training academy for 18-21 year olds.
