Millions of working days are lost each year due to mental ill health and the costs of these are significant to employers. Our courses are accredited by Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England and designed to encourage people to feel more comfortable and confident when discussing mental health, along with providing the skills to offer guidance and support to anyone who may be in need.

Supporting the value of well-being across an organisation is key and these sessions provide varying degree of knowledge to best support your team.

Your Trainer

Adam Whitehead is an accredited Instructor Member, approved by MHFA England to deliver Adult MHFA and Youth MHFA courses. Adam is a Commonwealth Gold medallist swimmer and has been involved with the Trust for ten years delivering and in later years designing all of the Trust's youth programmes. Adam knows from experience the issues around poor mental health and completed his Mental Health First Aid Practitioner training in 2019.

Everybody has mental health, and it is a continuum, at times people can experience poor mental health. Allowing people to be honest and open about their mental health can help to catch it early, allowing them to access support and greatly improve their chances of recovery.

The courses we offer:

Half Day - Mental Health Aware
An introductory course designed to increase mental health awareness and give an understanding of how to look after wellbeing and challenge stigma.

One Day - MHFA Champions
An awareness and skills course which will teach you to:

  • Recognise the main signs and symptoms of common mental health issues
  • Provide initial support
  • Guide a person towards appropriate professional help
  • Be mindful of you own wellbeing
  • Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier workforce or community

Two Day – Mental Health First Aiders
A practical skills and awareness course designed to give you:

  • A deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect people’s wellbeing, including your own
  • Practical skills to pot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to appropriate support

When you complete your course, you will receive a certificate of attendance and a manual to keep and refer to whenever you need it.
