We’d like to say a huge thank you to Sevenoaks Athletics Club for their cheque for £1985.50 which they presented to our President and Founder Dame Kelly Holmes on Sunday November 25th. The funds were raised from their successful recent Sevenoaks 7 races.

The Sevenoaks 7 is an annual 7-mile cross-country race held in Knole Park and since 1993, nearly 8000 finishers have successfully completed the challenging route through one of Kent’s most beautiful deer parks. The next race, the 26th, is being planned for Sunday, July 14th 2019.

Sevenoaks Athletics Club was originally founded as a running and cycling club which started in the 1920’s. It went out of existence in the late 1930’s but was re-formed in the early 1970’s as a running and athletics club for adults and children. It is now a thriving club with over 250 members – 150 adults and 100 juniors – with ages ranging from 9 to 85. Jim Knight from the club said:

We are delighted to help Dame Kelly and the tremendous work her Trust does for disadvantaged youngsters.

The money raised will be used to help fund our Get on Track programmes which aim to increase young people’s confidence, resilience and self-esteem which enables them to move into employment, become leaders within their communities, achieve in education and to improve their wellbeing through sport and physical activity.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone at Sevenoaks Athletics Club for the donation.
