The inaugural Sport Gives Back awards took place last night (Feb 5th) and Dame Kelly Holmes Trust were proud to be part of a truly inspirational evening, recognising the work of individuals, groups and organisations across the country who are transforming lives through sport.

Ten awards were presented throughout the evening, each one an amazing story of the power of sport to positively impact lives. Our President Col Dame Kelly Holmes presented Paralympic swimming champion Liz Johnson with the More than Medals athlete award in recognition of her work over the last year on the various programmes she has run all over the United Kingdom. Liz said:

It's such an honour to receive this award. We're all just going to work, doing something that we love, so to get extra recognition for it is incredible.

Sport has the ability to inspire so many people and it was certainly inspirational to hear from Olympic track and field legends Lord Sebastian CoeDaley Thompson CBE and our very own Col Dame Kelly Holmes about their careers and the people who influenced and motivated them along the way. With six Olympic gold medals between them, they all know first hand how sport can transform people's lives and it was a privilege to hear them speak so passionately about their stories and about how sport can positively impact on the lives of so many people.

As well as the sporting lengends on stage it was incredible to hear from people and organisations up and down the country who are changing lives every day through the power of sport. Celebrities and sports stars such as Adam Hills, Lee Dixon and Simon Shaw gave their time to talk about the winners and present awards.
