The Trust is delighted to announce that we have a new Athlete Team Leader team. The Trust reviewed the existing ATL positions earlier in the year, following recommendations from HR and the Senior Management team. The ATL role will be reviewed every two years which will allow athletes to develop new skills, including leadership and management over a period of time before moving on, allowing another athlete to gain similar experience.

Our research shows that athletes have huge employability potential and our aim is to ensure that our exceptional team become a highly productive workforce for our society, our economy and our communities. We are proud to support our athletes with personal, social and emotional development and we know the positive impact that athletes can have in their lives beyond sport so strive to harness this.

The ATL review had absolutely no reflection on the great job that the previous ATLs have done in the last four years. Our ATL Team have consistently gone above and beyond and performed within their roles, setting the bar very high for our new Team of ATLs.

Claire Bennett, Athlete Manager at Dame Kelly Holmes Trust said:

I am so proud of the the past, present and future ATLs as they have shown a real desire and passion to lead their regional athlete teams and focus on their own personal development.

The ATL team play a crucial part in supporting and doing more for Trust athletes, and I want to thank all of the ATLs for their continued hard work, enthusiasm and commitment to the Trust. It has been an absolute pleasure working with the previous ATLs and I look forward to working more closely with the new ATLs in the coming months.

New Team Leaders:

Scotland – Sarah Clark

North – James Kirton

Midlands – Grant Turner

South West – Dave Hill (re-appointment)

Wales – Philippa Tuttiett (New role)

London & South East – Theo Spalding-McIntosh

In addition, GiveBack athlete Chris McCready is starting a new role with our team as Athlete Support and Development. Chris will be ensuring all monitoring and evaluation data is being collected and utilised by the athlete delivery team to better inform how we work with our GiveBack team. Chris will also be providing training and support to ATLs, in the area of athlete transition and development.

Our new ATLs have been through a handover process during September and will be fully inducted by the end of October. Please give them a warm welcome, or in Sarah and Dave’s case, your continued support!
