There was a surprise in store for Southeastern staff members who attended a quarterly employee forum and unexpectedly got up close and personal with a double Gold Olympian: Dame Kelly Holmes.

Our President Dame Kelly met and presented to around 50 staff from the rail company’s Senior Management and Passenger Facing teams to tell them more about the Trust and to thank them for their fundraising efforts so far. The afternoon also saw her sharing personal insights into her own career successes and failures and motivation for setting up the Trust.

Bringing her gold medals in too, Dame Kelly provided a welcome double gold surprise for those attending to inspire the company's staff and to give them an overview of our work also. After presentations, the Trust team set the employees a group exercise to think about exciting and innovative ways they could support us using our new Fundraising A to Z guide to focus their ideas.

This year we have been chosen as one of Southeastern’s Charities of the Year and the partnership has kicked off in style with a fantastic active event and raffle at London Bridge raising £1,335.20 in total.

Our Employee Engagement Manager Marie also delivered a talk to give staff a better understanding of where the money they have raised goes and what any future funds raised will go to.

On the day we were also joined by Southeastern’s second chosen charity Railway Children who gave a short presentation and engaged employees with an exercise to get them to see things from the perspective of a young person who has run away from home.

We’re looking forward to seeing our partnership take shape across the network.
