Dame Kelly Holmes Trust are proud to be working with Prudential once again on the PruGOals programme. PruGOals is providing inspiration and support for young people to help them build a better future for themselves, regardless of their background.

In 2018, along with four other charities, we are working with 500 16-18 year-olds from low-income families to build their confidence and to support them as they move from school to employment. The PruGOals programme helps young people develop relevant life skills including wellbeing, confidence and employability and encourages personal motivation. All the young people are provided with bikes, training and equipment, as well as coaching and mentoring to support them as they prepare for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46.

As well as the Trust, PruGOals are also working with young people from Greenhouse Sports, Transformation Trust, Centre Point and Teach First

In March, three training rides were held in Sheffield, Bristol and Edinburgh to help prepare the young people for the challenge ahead. As well as training rides led by experienced ride leaders, the young people also took part in nutrition workshops led by athlete mentors from Dame Kelly Holmes Trust learning all about Burners, Blasts and Hot Air!

One of the young people representing the Trust from Wales, Darryl Moore said:

PruGOals is really teaching me at the moment to learn new skills and to be ready to adapt to different situations around me. When it comes to the ride, I want to finish it with my friends and I’d like to support people through the ride, so if there’s people struggling I want to push people on together.

Our Founder, Dame Kelly Holmes is also a PruGOals ambassador and was in attendance at all of the rides to motivate, inspire and give confidence to all the riders and instil in them the belief they can achieve this.

Keep an eye on our social media channels as well as the hashtag #PruGOals for further updates and also the London training rides which are taking place later this month.
