Philippa began playing rugby at University when she studied Communications at Cardiff.

She worked her way through the ranks at club and regional rugby to becoming Wales Development Captain and after receiving Wales Development Player of the Year she then received her first cap in 2007. In that same year Philippa made the Wales Sevens team and one year later she joined the Wales Touch Rugby team. She has gone on to have an International Rugby career spanning almost ten years with her most recent award of WRU Regional Player of the year 2014 and Home Nations Touch Rugby Player of the year 2014.

Philippa balances her unpaid international career with full-time work as a builder. She owns the UK’s only all-female building company, FBI Female Building and Interiors. Philippa is also a Construction Excellence Ambassador, a Youth Entrepreneur Role Model, has been a TV presenter for Channel 4′s The Renovation Game and she currently presents her own show on UKTV, ‘DIY with Philippa.’

Philippa is also a Women’s Sports Trust Athlete Ambassador and Sky Sports Athlete Mentor.

Giving Back

After retiring from International Rugby in September 2014 Philippa was given her first opportunity with the Trust to lead the mentoring project “Get On Track” in Exeter. She then went on to lead the first ever Welsh “Get On Track” programme in Bridgend. Through the Trust support she is continually developing and maximizing her skill set. The Trust is supporting her to complete her Personal Coaching qualification and has recently just been appointed as Welsh Athlete Team Leader. Philippa says “The trust has given me an amazing opportunity to help and support others, as a mentor on Get On Track I can help young people who through no fault of their own just haven’t had the same chances in life. Then as Welsh Team Leader I can support other International Athletes coming to terms with one of the hardest transitions, retiring from International sport.”
